In the BLEAK MIDWINTER is one of my favourite Christmas Carols and the words certainly suited the very cold weather we had in December. This journal page spread is in my big A4 journal.
I stamped the words onto old book pages before cutting them out.
The lyrics to this carol were written as a poem by CHRISTINA ROSETTI and later set to music bu GUSTAV HOLST.
I used Tim Holtz snowflakes die to stencil around to make the borders.
The tree is a photo (printed in grey scale on ordinary paper) I took on a recent walk, it sits by a pond that certainly fitted the words....."water like a stone" on the day the pic was taken.........I have known this oak tree since I was a child, my brothers and I used to spend hours roaming the woods and fields nearby.
Finally, thanks for all the comments re whether I should keep my blog background or change it, I like the fact that so many of you think it is so "me"!! I have decided to keep my skeletons for the time being as I reaclly an't find anything else I like as much! Several people suggested I could change the colours......I would if I knew how to do that!!

Stunning pages,Sue and what a beautiful Oak Tree! Great title.
I love how you did this page and I'm not sure how you managed to get the branches to go into the snowflakes (last picture), but I LOVE the effect.
You always have the best letter stamps :)
Great piece !! I like your blog design too !!
Christine Rossetti was so overlooked, she wrote some marvellous poems and she painted. Love the page, it is also my fav carol and always makes me cry for some reason...... thanks as always for the inspiration. xxx

This work is stunning! I love the way your chosen elements of words, photo and paint give life to this poem. It's simply beautiful and I look upon it in awe!

Oh I LOVE this - you are such an inspiration, I'd never have thought of using newsprint like this! Gotta love art journalling, most of the materials are so cheap! Those stamps you've used for "in the bleak" are just gorgeous! Whose are they (well apart from yours of course)??
Ooh I do like this page - very bleak in a good sort of way! I like the carol you mention too. Roll on spring!
