I'm not weird

Have you ever given much thought to how the comments you leave on blogs or Facebook are received by the person whose blog/FBpage it is?
I am OFTEN called WEIRD and I know that 99.9999% of people who say that mean it in a kindly/friendly/fun way and that's how I take it......in fact I quite like being a bit different :) but every now and then some comment makes me stop and think...."OK, you don't know me well enough to say that".......it happened recently (I'm not saying where or by who....this is not the place for that) and I've been thinking about it since!
It prompted this page!

This quote has been appearing on Facebook pages a lot recently and I thought it apropriate for how I've been feeling!

My taste might not be your taste but please think about how you express that opinion! Not just on my stuff but on any blog etc that you choose to leave a comment on.

I'm not trying to be funny or provocative here or to offend anyone,  just saying it as I see it!
As my Mum always told us as kids "If you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything!"

You know the comments that really say it all are those that say "this might not be my taste but I can really see the work that went into that" or " I don't like the subject matter but I can really understand what you are trying to say"

I'M NOT WEIRD
I'M LIMITED EDITION!

these ARE to my taste and I think you're weird in an entirely good way :)

sorry you were on the receiving end of a less pleasant comment, there seem to be a lot doing the rounds - it's not the same commenter is it?

Oh what a fun page Sue.
You have you had good thoughts on this issue.
It makes me very thoughtful, but it's the truth.

Surely if people don't like a blog entry they've looked at they could just not leave a comment at all?! How unfeeling some people are... I don't think you're weird either.

One persons "weird" is another persons "normal"... tis sad when people out there think that they can say things about a person or their interpretation of art that they really know very little about... I know that as soon as we blog, we ask for comments... the way I feel is that one negative comment can wipe out a load of positive ones and maybe whomever is leaving a little snippet of negativity needs to have a good long look at themselves before spouting off.... Good on YOU Sue for saying all of that... I happen to LOVE seeing all your latest creations, all of them are 100% unique, out there, so very YOU and very thought provoking... sending you a cyber hug x

who cares' anyway Sue - weird isn't bad, it's just thoughts that the so called "normal" folk can't cope with. weird keeps like interesting. I do wish people would just naff off if they have to put unkind comments down though.

Ohhh, sad to read this post. But you managed to turn bad into splendid with this gorgeous layout.
Love the reoccuring circles and your saying is O SO TRUE... You are unique and it is refreshing to see art outside the mainstream movements... It's not always about cute... Life is not like that.

Maybe the 'normal' people should consider that just maybe they are the weird ones. I'm sorry someone was horrible to you, I think it says more about them than you. You created a fantastic page out of something unpleasant, congrats.

I'm sorry you've made this experience and I'd just ignore it if you can. Art is about expressing who you are not about making stuff to suit someone elses taste. Your work always makes me think and that's an A+ in my book, carry on being the way you are, we love you! Mx

"those who matter Dont judge me...those who judge me dont matter?

That said it's very difficult not to let it get to you.
Well done for speaking your mind Sue.

that's so rubbish that a comment made you feel like that, I hope you deleted it. I do love though how your reaction made such an effective page (makes me think of my 'I'm not a number' page, my MIL still insists I am but I'm not!) I hadn't seen the 'I'm limited edition' thing - that's so fab!!!! You are unique and I love your uniqueness :) See you soon :) :) :)

I can see how it struck a chord but life is too short, especially when your work is so great.
