It may not surprise you

to hear that

only kidding:)

This is Maggi Hamblings shell sculpture, it sits on the beach in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
The words around the top of the shell are
I HEAR THOSE VOICES THAT WILL NOT BE DROWNED
taken from Benjamin Brittens opera Peter Grimes

Aldeburgh is my favourite destination along the east coat (its about an hour and half away from me) and this sculpture is wonderful to see on the long stretch of coast line.

love this sculpture and the quote. I remember going to see Peter Grimes at the ENO with my dad when I was a kiddie (I used to be quite cultured once lol). It was a brilliant production. still sticks in my mind.

I love this sculpture and cannot believe how much controversy (and vandalism) surrounds it.
