Today is Remembrance Day.
I made this in commemoration.
I have used a First World War poem by John McCrae on my pages but I am well aware that Remembrance Day commemorates those who have died in the line of duty not just in the First World War but in many wars since then.
I used this picture as my background.......I took it a few days ago in Prague, it is the Old Jewish Cemetery and although it is not a war cemetery I use it as a symbol of all those fallen and buried.

This is stunning, especially the blood red poppies. I am just reading a series of books written during the First World War and am horrified by the almost matter-of-fact way the terrible toll in lives is accepted and glorified. Though I suppose it was the only way the women could come to terms with the loss of their menfolk.
It is absolutely wonderful and 'tasteful' and does justice to the cause, I think. Thanks for sharing this great picture. I have been there in 1987 with my class when I was still at school, well before the fall of the Berlin Wall; I think it has been a little different in Prague then, but I enjoyed this stay very much. This is so moving. I just lost my stepdad, a
WWII veteran and I know he would have loved this tribute to those he lost in the war.
