SKYSCRAPERS AND SCULPTURES

An area of Paris I had not been to before is LA DEFENSE. It is the business district and as my husband was in Paris for work it is where we stayed. Alongside all the huge (and some of them spectacular) office buildings there are lots of modern sculptures. Although I generally prefer older stuff  I am a fan of installation art and so found the area fascinating.
Above is LA GRANDE ARCHE......it lines up with ARC de TRIOMPHE and the LOUVRE.

There is a multi-coloured column.....looked like a huge stick of plasticine!

 A big red metal thing!

A HUGE THUMB.......sort of spooky somehow!

And this funky ANGEL.......I liked this a lot.......despite having a face in his groin!

You did manage to see quite a few things Sue on your short trip. I love the thumb, very authentic and the angel is wonderful, apart from the face in the groin LOL. Tracy x x

Wonderful sculptures. Does anybody else see the red thing as a dragon?

You found my favourite place in Paris! Some new installations since I last went-ages ago(:!! The only place I have to visit each time I go. I am loving seeing all your photos. I wonder if you got to Place des Vosges - a total contrast to the Grand Arche.

I have been there, Sue. I spent a week in Paris and my hotel was in a village just a walk from the Metro station on La Defense.

It was my first glimpse of Paris and I thought it amazing. I have many drawings of the area in my sketch book.

I attempted to walk from the Arc de Triomphe to La Grande Arche...such a long way. I think my legs gave up before my desires did.
Thanks for bringing all of that back!
