Happy New Year

Better late than never in wishing a HAPPY NEW YEAR!I had a friend staying over the New Year and we were out and about on New Years Day doing what we like best......visiting churches, walking in the countryside and then a pub lunch!! Perfect!!

This is All Saints at Siddington

and this is St James and St Pauls at Marton, one of the oldest timber framed churches in Europe

the third church we visited is one I have been to a few times before.......St Peter at Swettenham (right next door to the Sewttenham Arms pub)..... but it has never been open, this time we were lucky and it was open!
It is also a timber framed church......you can see some of the original wood building inside......... but in 1722 it was encased in brick and a tower added!

outside is this strange thing......it is the family emblem of a local family, the Mainwarings......an ass's head coming out of a ducal coronet!!!!!!
I love weird stuff like that!!!

Finally, views over the Cheshire countryside and some red and orange crab apples!
