What you see is what you get

I sort of wish I hadn't blogged the last post......the more I look at it the less happy I am with it. Oh well, onwards and upwards......I'm MUCH happier with this piece!

Last night I was wandering around online and looking at Gelliplate stuff and came across THIS and THIS about printing onto packing tape or sheets of sticky plastic and decided to have a play......had to go shopping first for some sticky backed plastic!

OK, so usually with the Gelli plate the hardest thing is working backwards with the layers......for this method what you see is what you get!
So, this is what I ended up with on my plate......you have to let the paint dry between the layers and you need to leave some blank spaces....I used some punched circles before addding the first layer of paint (the pink and orange), they are then removed and the rest is worked on top of that layer.

I used lots of circles and lines and the Andy Skinner skull stencil.

I cut a piece of my sticky plastic to size to fit the plate.......but it helps if you then put it on the plate the right way round......I didn't and ended up leaving this little strip on my plate!!! I used another thin strip of plastic to lift this strip.

These are the sheets of sticky stuff with the pulled print on them, sitting upside down....sticky side up.......

then I stuck pieces of book page onto the back...they stick to the gaps in the print that are still sticky and show through the holes

I have a new Moleskine journal, I used a piece of my print on the front of the journal.......I used another piece of the sticky plastic to hold it in place, it reminded me of covering books at school!

and I have another piece of the print left to do something else with!

edit: have now entered this into CAROLYN DUBES JULY GELLI PARTY!

I love this technique too. my son's school books never got covered because the sticky backed covering accidentally got Gellied!

Okay, as I said, this is mindblowing! Totally adorable. I definitely have to give it a try again. For my first attempt the sticky tape I used has been too flimsy :-( But I have a question: how do you get the skull so neat? (needless to say that I LOVE it ;-)) LOL I guess this is the Andy Skinner mask again - which I have too - but when I tried it it just got messy. Hugs, Suzanne x
