It seems that BLOGGER had some sort of major melt-down yesterday with posts disappearing and then re-appearing! Things seem to be back to normal this morning apart from the fact that any comments on the "Grungy is what happens" post have gone.....so if you did leave a comment thank you even if I didn't get to read them! (I did read a few before things went haywire!)
So....onwards and upwards...........this WAS going to be my inspiration piece for the ongoing RECYCLED challenge over on STAMPOTIQUE DESIGNERS BLOG.......it got away from what I wanted for the challenge........I was trying to get the mermaids mixed in with the fish but just couldn't get it how I wanted so I set it aside.
I came back to it today and finished it off!
The fish are more from the wrapping paper I bought a while back.......I love the colours on them.......
What was going to be my recycled aspect was these receipts from my local supermarket that I used in the background.......I tried very hard to keep some of them showing but I found it quite hard..........
.....so added some circles on top.........can you see where it says PAMCTOP? That's the supermarket name in Cyrillic........in English it is RAMSTOR!......then it says Kazakhstan after it, again in Cyrillic.
The lines that look like reeds were made using a piece of thin ribbon........I soaked it in watery ink then put it on the page, closed the book and pulled the ribbon out.....I liked the raggy lines it gave.....not a lot of control over what you get but that's OK!!!

Ah, now I see that its not me experiencing menopausal brain death - I DID have some comments but they seem to have vanished! Doh. Loving this fishy page, sort of deep, murky and mysterious depths .....
Love your fishy fishy, Sue!

This is fabulous. Love your techniques!
Terrific page. I love the receipts & that was a great idea to use the ribbon.
Great pages Sue, love the use of the receipts and the technique with the ribbons. The fish paper is fab. Hope everything is going well over in Kazakhstan. Tracy x
Love this Sue! Now I have to say that I've never considered recycling shopping dockets, but if you see some in my work, you'll know where the idea came from! I'm also getting an urge to do something with fish and I'm blaming that on you too!!! Fabulous and inspiring work!
Wildly creative, utterly fantastic!
Fantastic fishy pages.
I think any fish would be very pleased to swim into this layout! LOVE the ribbon painted reeds, but the shopping receipts are the real star of this show, what a fabulous concept. I am crazy about using text as pattern and this is so über cool! And, as Sid mentioned, such a relief to find some stability in Merlot!!!! ;-)
