ORIENTAL

is the word this week on TAKE A WORD. Although I like oriental as a theme I found this very hard as I only have limited supplies here......quite frustrating as I have LOADS of stuff I could have used at home!
By complete chance I had the background for this page aready in a journal.....it was meant for something else!! It was made using joss paper.......it was all the rage years ago and I had a big pack stuffed in a drawer.......I used just the centres of the papers.
For the birds I used my Claudine Helmuth foam stamp, stamped on card, cut out and used as a template......am liking this bird stamp!

I like to mix things up a little so I used a local newspaper to make my birds.

I found the little paper umbrellas in the supermarket....they made great wings and hats......my husband thought he was getting them in his G&T....silly man!!!

The gold on the joss paper rubs off quite easily......I like the shabby look that gives :)

I applaud your creativity and originality! This is delightful, and the idea of using the tiny umbrellas as hats and wings was sheer genius. Applause from my corner!

Great job using what you could find on hand! Very creative. I love what you created...I'm really liking anything with birds.
I bet it is tough not having all your art stuff around.
And surely your husband knows most everything you pick up is for a mixed media project??? lol

Wow! At first I thought your birds were origami but then I realised you had used the cocktail umbrellas. What a thoroughly original idea. I just love this artwork. Fabulous.

Lovely creative journal pages, if you do this without your supplies... By the way, you blog layout is odd and poetic at the same time. It was pleasure to wander around here.
