Owls

I bought these pottery owls a couple of days ago........

from this gallery......as you can their logo has a house on it.......

I made these pages inspired by those owls and I used one of the gallery leaflets for the background......
this poor owl ended up with a house on his head.....completely by chance......note to self "must pay more attention"!!

Venus

This figure is the Venus of Willendorf, it is thought to have been made about 24,000 years BC and was dug up in 1908 in Austria.

 Letters cut from magazine

strips of masking tape and text coloured with bit of paint and water colour crayons

If only this was the figure that was held up for us all to aspire to look like instead of those ridiculously thin, ill-looking, androgenous models that we are all meant to try and look like I think most of us would have no problems with the way we look!!!!!!!!.... rant over:)

Just because

No good reason for this page....just felt like playing.

I seem to be a bit stuck in an Autumnal colour theme!

I bought a Dutch magazine at Schipol airport and it has stood me in good stead for random text.....I quite like foreign text:)

The strangest person in the world

This started out as a pic in a magazine of a self-portrait by Frida Khalo.......I altered it a little!

The quote is one by Frida herself.......

Peacock feathers

are not usually associated with Hallowe'en but as I sit here with my limited supplies I thought........."why not"? So, here you are!!!!
Hallowe'en with peacock feathers!!

When putting together my stuff to bring with me I spotted a tube of texture paste for only 2GBP in The Works.......I did wonder if it would be any good at that price but thought it was worth a try......it works just fine as you can see from the peacock feathers!!

The breath from men

I sometimes wonder what I would do with the internet!!!! Apart from the everyday life stuff of keeping in touch with family and friends......especially while I am here in Kazakhstan........I find lots of inspiartion too!The images on these pages and the quote were both found online somewhere or other!

The background of the pages came from a more down-to-earth source.....receipts from the supermarket! They are printed on that thermal paper so heating the edges gives an instant dark edging.

Although I find handwriting on pages a hard thing I find that printing is OK, maybe cos I'm more in control of it:)

Meet

Pumpkin Head...................an altered doll

with his big cheesy grin and starry eyes and a little black belly button!

He started out as the little dolly on the right:)

Calavera

This page came together in two stages. Had made the background but then didn't know what else to do with it so it sat around for a while

next I painted the chipboard skull and was planning on using it on another page but couldn't get that to work how I wanted.......then realised it worked well on this background

added a few more bits and pieces.......the white dots and lines and the words and it was done!

Autumn

This page started with some strips of scrap paper that I stuck down in a sort of woven fashion.......then painted over the strips

tree made with the edge of a credit card dipped in black paint

hand drawn birds......have to admit Iam not sure about the birds, but they are ok-ish!!

 stamped word

An old favourite

Today I just felt like playing but had nothing particular in mind

so I returned to a favourite theme

this is a little different from my usual style......not a skull, dead baby or Hallowe'en in sight......again it's fun to step outside the box slightly sometimes!
